During the press conference, held at the end of his meeting with the Head of Moroccan diplomacy, Nasser Bourita, the Mauritanian minister declared that the two countries are working closely to find a solution within the framework of permanent coordination between the two countries. A few weeks ago, the Mauritanian authorities imposed an increase in customs taxes on Moroccan agricultural products as they passed through El Guerguerat. The reasons for this increase, estimated at 10%, have not been officially explained by the Mauritanian government.
