Spain did not directly contact Russia regarding Moscow’s alleged involvement in the migration crisis in Ceuta, but Madrid immediately “ran to the microphones” to make statements, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Tuesday.
“I would like to draw attention once again to the fact that we have specialized channels of communication with countries on cyberattacks. .. We have an embassy in Madrid, they could have sent relevant requests there, they could have appealed… to the UN. Madrid did not use any of this, no one told us anything about it, but immediately ran to the microphones to make some statements without supporting materials,” Zakharova said at a briefing, answering a question from RIA Novosti.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has suggested that Russia was allegedly involved in the migration crisis in his country. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told RBC that Russia has nothing to do with the mass influx of migrants into Spanish Ceuta.
