Moroccan Ambassador Washington: Gaza war froze cooperation between Arab Countries and Israel

The Moroccan ambassador in Washington explained that the Abraham Accords between Arab countries and Israel “constituted an ambitious ground for creating ties and supporting cooperation and economic development among the countries of the region” before being “frozen by the war in Gaza.”

“Unfortunately, the war in Gaza and the dire situation in the Middle East have led to a freeze on cooperation” between Arab countries and Israel, he said in a statement to ” Alhurra” on Wednesday.

Morocco was among the Arab countries that signed the Abraham Accords with Israel in 2020 in US President Donald Trump’s first term.

The Moroccan diplomatic official called for “building bridges of cooperation and political dialogue in the interest of basic security and stability in the region”, saying “enough of wars and tension”.

“Our approach is to connect people and countries instead of war and crises. We want the Middle East to live in peace and peace and to live in economic prosperity.”

Amrani did not want to comment on Trump’s proposal to relocate Gaza residents to Egypt and Jordan, saying an upcoming Arab League meeting would discuss the matter.

“We don’t want to anticipate events, and I don’t have expectations (about the Arab League meeting), what is important is our ambition for peace and peace in the region,” he said.
