Hungarian Parliament Elects Andras Baka as President

Hungary’s parliament elected former Supreme Court President Andras Baka as the country’s president on Tuesday, according to the parliament’s broadcast.

In a secret ballot, 140 members supported Baka’s candidacy, six voted against, and 53 were absent. A two-thirds majority of the 199 votes is required to elect a candidate . The Tisza party, which nominated Baka, holds a constitutional majority.
