Morocco is Brazil’s “most dangerous” opponent in the 2026 World Cup group stage, said the Seleçao’s coach, Carlo Ancelotti, following the final draw for the competition, held on Friday at the Kennedy Center in Washington.
Morocco was drawn with Brazil, Scotland and Haiti in Group C of the 2026 World Cup, which will take place next summer in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Moroccan team “plays well” and achieves “excellent results,” the Italian coach stressed in remarks to the press, recalling that the Atlas Lions had an “fantastic” run at the last World Cup in Qatar, where they reached the semifinals.
Morocco also has a “fantastic” coach, added the former Real Madrid manager, noting that the match between the two teams will be “difficult.”
For his part, Haiti’s coach, Sébastien Migné, said that his team’s match against the Atlas Lions “will not be easy.”
The Moroccan squad includes players who play “at a very high level,” the French coach told the press, recalling that the Atlas Lions achieved a record of 18 consecutive victories.
“In terms of strategy, we’ll wait a few days. I’ll also go observe them during the next Africa Cup of Nations,” he said.
“Morocco’s experience during the last World Cup will serve them well,” Migné noted, stressing that the Atlas Lions “didn’t reach the semifinals for nothing.”
“It will be up to us to find the right strategies, and we have seven months left to do so,” he added.
The draw ceremony was held in the presence of, among others, U.S. President Donald Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, along with delegations representing the qualified countries.
The 2026 World Cup is the first to be jointly hosted by three countries, and the first to bring together 48 nations, who will play a total of 104 matches, including 78 in the United States, 13 in Canada and 13 in Mexico.
