Rosatom denies reports of layoffs atPaks project

Rosatom, the main constructor in the expansion of the Paks nuclear power plant, denied reports that subcontractor Bauer Hungary has laid off hundreds of workers, Világgazdaság writes. Independent MP Ákos Hadházy wrote in a

Facebook post that Bauer Hungary was withdrawing from the project because of non-payments by the state-owned Russian nuclear power company and that several hundred workers had been laid off.

In response, Rosatom said the number of workers onsite varies from one phase to another. Subcontractors do not hire employees on permanent contracts but for specific phases, meaning the period of employment for some
workers has simply ended as planned, Rosatom added.
