The filling rate of Morocco’s dams reached 32.2% up to April 5, 2024, with a reservoir volume of over 5.186 billion cubic meters (m3), according to the daily report on the Kingdom’s dams issued by the Ministry of Equipment and Water.
This marks an increase from the 23.2% recorded at the end of January, attributed to substantial rainfall in various regions of the Kingdom during February and March, as well as snow melting. However, this rate remains lower compared to the same period in 2023, which stood at 34.53%, with a reservoir volume of 5.576 billion cubic meters.
The Sebou basin displays a filling rate of 49.82%, mainly due to a 0.48% increase compared to Thursday in the reservoirs of Al-Wahda dam, the largest in Morocco, whose filling rate reached 57.43%, and Idriss 1st dam with a filling rate of 25.53%.
The Loukkos basin, which displays a filling rate of 63.03%, improved by 0.23% compared to Thursday, thanks in particular to a 0.53% increase in the reservoirs of Oued El Makhazine dam (93.6%) and a slight increase in Dar Khroufa dam (29.85%).
In Oum Er Rbia basin, reservoirs recorded a slight improvement of 0.05% to reach a filling rate of 7.19%, resulting from a 0.17% increase in reservoirs of Bin El Ouidan, the third largest dam in Morocco, with a filling rate of 9.16%, Al Massira (second largest dam), with an increase of 0.12% compared to the day before, with a filling rate of 2.2%.
