Morocco intercepts 189 Irregular Migrants Attempting to Reach Canary Islands

Units of the Royal Navy intercepted a pirogue off the coast of Dakhla on Monday carrying 189 would-be irregular migrants who intended to reach the Canary Islands.

Among the apprehended individuals, who are from Sub-Saharan Africa, some who were ill received first aid on board before being brought back to the Port of Dakhla and handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for standard administrative procedures, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
