Minister of Construction and Transport János Lázár said he was part of the delegation that went to Moscow with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán last Friday to discuss Hungary’s energy security and the Paks II nuclear power plant expansion in the absence of Energy Minister Csaba Lantos and energy company MOL.
Speaking to Radio 7 in Hódmezővásárhely, Lázár stressed that he was included because he had previously “brought the Paks contract to fruition”, and that Orbán values his “strong stance on sovereignty issues”.
Lázár added that he also plays “several roles” in the government and is actively involved in the ongoing election campaign.
The minister confirmed that the plane carrying the delegation took a significant detour to reach Moscow.
The journey required about six hours each way, which Lázár described as a necessary national security precaution due to the war and current airspace restrictions.
