European Parliament Rejects Attempt to Block Implementation of Agricultural Agreement with Morocco

The European Parliament rejected on Wednesday a “motion of objection” introduced by some right-wing and far-right circles against the draft delegated act presented by the European Commission as part of the implementation of its commitments under the Agreement through Exchange of Letters concluded between Morocco and the EU on October 3 regarding the export of Moroccan agricultural products to the European market.

Through this vote, the European Parliament ratifies the delegated act presented by the European Commission, which operationalizes the reference to the Moroccan Sahara regions, in accordance with the Agreement.

On October 3, 2025, Morocco and the European Union signed in Brussels the exchange of letters amending the agricultural agreement between the two parties, confirming that the same conditions of preferential access to the European market accorded to the rest of the Kingdom are applied to agricultural products from Southern provinces, under the Morocco-EU Association Agreement.

The same agreement introduces technical adjustments made to facilitate access for products and enhance their value, particularly concerning consumer information, through labels indicating the regions of production as the South of the Kingdom – “Laayoune-Sakia el Hamra” and “Dakhla-Oued Eddahab.”
