Hungary and Slovakia excluded fromtalks on European drone defences

The defence ministers of seven EU and NATO member states will meet on Friday to discuss the possibility of a “drone wall” in Eastern Europe, but have not invited Hungary or Slo-
vakia.

Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria and a representative of Ukraine will take part.

European Commission spokesman Thomas Regnier said neither Hungary nor Slovakia has been invited to the talks convened by Defence Commissioner Andrius Kubilius regarding the drone wall planned at the east-
ern borders of the EU.

Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a recent speech that a drone wall
will be needed.

There is no information yet on the cost of the drone wall, but analysts say it could be completed within a year. Kubilius envisions a system consisting of multiple sensors, weapons and jamming systems.
