Morocco, Kenya Discuss Bolstering Parliamentary Cooperation

Bolstering parliamentary cooperation between Morocco and Kenya was the focus of talks on Wednesday in Nairobi between Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Kenya Amason Kingi Jeffah and  Ambassador of Morocco to Kenya and the Republic of South Sudan Abderrazzak Laassel.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the need to create a Morocco-Kenya parliamentary friendship group aimed at strengthening bilateral ties through regular dialogue and cooperation between legislative institutions of both countries.

The two sides highlighted the importance of this group, which will strive to consolidate parliamentary diplomacy, promote mutual understanding, and support common interests in areas of trade, education, and development.

Spotlighting parliamentary cooperation as part of a long-term vision to make the Morocco-Kenya partnership a model of South-South cooperation, particularly in areas of African integration and sustainable development, the two parties spoke of further strengthening distinguished multisectoral cooperation in the economic, commercial, cultural, and security fields.

Discussions also focused on the need to intensify cooperation in areas related to trade, investment, infrastructure, and agricultural cooperation.

Last May, the visit of Kenyan Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Musalia Mudavadi to Morocco marked a turning point in bilateral relations between the two countries, demonstrating a shared willingness to deepen the strategic partnership.
