The advertisements designed to promote the government’s “consultative vote” on possible EU membership for Ukraine are based on the rejection of Volodymyr Zelensky, Ursula von der Leyen and Manfred Weber, HVG reports.
The ads feature the three leaders before a huge red letter X above the text “Don’t let them decide over our head!” in capital letters.
The consultative voting has no stakes or consequences. Although the government claims that the result will reflect the view of the Hungarian people, it takes care to ensure its preferred outcome by including anti-Ukrainian propaganda along with the ballots sent to households, HVG adds.
At the same time, Fidesz accuses the Ti sza party of wilfully distorting the view of the Hungarian people with its own referendum on the Ukraine issue.
