Social Dialogue: More than 1.1 Mln Benefit from Wage Increases

– Following social dialogue rounds, around 1.127 million public employees will benefit from wage increases at a total cost of 45 billion dirhams by 2026, Government Spokesperson Mustapha Baitas said on Thursday.

During a press briefing following the Government Council, Baitas stated that this wage increase would translate into a year-on-year increase in the wage bill, adding that the net minimum monthly wage in the public sector rose by 50% from 3,000 to 4,500 dirhams.

He recalled that the social dialogue’s results also include the abolition of scale 7 for public employees of the administrative and technical assistant categories, as well as the revision of income tax, the increase in the grade promotion quota and the approval of several measure benefiting education staff.

In this respect, the Spokesperson highlighted that “the government’s efforts stem from its conviction that the Social State is an integrated project, as it targets vulnerable populations benefiting from the medical coverage and social assistance system, but also public and salaried employees.”

Baitas also emphasized that “the results of social dialogue reflect the government’s determination to strengthen the economic and human rights aspects through projects and measures that impact citizens”
