The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia has declared Hrvoj Šnajder, the first secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Belgrade, as persona non grata.
Hrvoj Šnajder, the first secretary at the Embassy of Croatia is no longer welcome, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, who declared the diplomat a “persona non grata”. “During his professional engagement in the Republic of Serbia, Šnajder grossly went beyond the scope of diplomatic norms and violated the aforementioned Convention. On that occasion, a diplomatic note was handed over to the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia , Hidayet Biščević,” said the Ministry, in an official press release, published on monday.
The Ministry made that decision in accordance with Article 9 of the Vienna Convention, which regulates diplomatic-consular relations, according to the same source. The MSP regrets the actions of the aforementioned diplomat in the past period, which does not contribute to the improvement of bilateral relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia, good-neighborly cooperation and overall raising of the level of peace and stability in the region.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia expresses the expectation that the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia will work together to build mutual trust, with the goal of achieving a common European future,” the press release concludes.
