Marrakech – The Regional Brigade of the Judicial Police in Fez has apprehended four individuals, aged between 30 and 45, with prior criminal records, suspected of being part of a criminal network involved in the theft of much-needed relief supplies meant for victims of the devastating Al-Haoz earthquake. The arrests came after investigations led by the General Directorate for Surveillance of the National Territory.
The incident came to light last Friday when authorities in the Fez security province initiated a judicial inquiry following the reported theft of essential relief items from a private truck that was transporting donations intended for Al-Haoz earthquake victims
Among the pilfered items were blankets and clothing crucial to the well-being of those affected by the disaster, as confirmed by a statement from the General Directorate of National Security. According to official sources, the efforts in tracking down the culprits have yielded positive results, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of the four individuals.
Already known to law enforcement due to prior convictions, the arrested suspects are believed to be part of a broader network involved in the theft and diversion of humanitarian aid.
