The United States wants to manufacture its weapons in Poland, US Ambassador in Warsaw Tom Rose said on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, an agreement was signed to establish an Apache helicopter service center in Poland.
“No announcements yet today, we are hard at work with [Polish Deputy Minister of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk] to ensure a greatly expanded opportunity for co-production of American military equipment here in Poland,” Rose said during the signing ceremony .
The ambassador did not specify the types of equipment planned to be produced.
In recent years, Poland has made major purchases of US weapons. Among the largest contracts are 32 F-35A fighter jets, 250 M1A2 Abrams tanks and 116 M1A1 Abrams tanks, Patriot air defense systems, HIMARS rocket systems and 96 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters.
