The Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, stated that the relationship between Spain and Morocco is one of “the most solid in the world,” highlighting the depth of the partnership between the two countries.
In an interview with the daily newspaper “El Periódico”, the head of Spanish diplomacy gave a positive assessment of bilateral cooperation, affirming that relations between Rabat and Madrid are currently experiencing their “best moment in history.”
Albares notably highlighted the intensity of economic exchanges, specifying that the volume of bilateral trade has reached a record level of 21 billion euros, illustrating the growing dynamism of commercial relations between the two Kingdoms.
On the security front, he praised an “exemplary cooperation” in police and judicial matters, assuring that this close coordination contributes decisively to the effective management of irregular migratory flows and the strengthening of shared security.
The minister also emphasized the strategic importance of the joint hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, a project he described as a “major lever” for rapprochement and regional cooperation.
Finally, Albares insisted on the human and cultural dimension of this bilateral relationship, recalling that Morocco hosts the largest network of Cervantes Institutes in the world, a reflection of the vitality of cultural exchanges and the close ties between the two societies.
