Donald Trump has nominated New York businessman Benjamin Landa to be the next US ambassador to Hungary, according to the Washington Post’s presidential appointment
registry.
The nomination, submitted to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on October 2, could be reviewed later this month. Bryan E. Leib, a researcher at the Centre for Fundamental Rights, an institution close to the Hungarian government, congratulated
Landa on social media, noting his own prior consideration for the role. Landa, a Brooklyn native and Adelphi University graduate, built his wealth in elderly care as founder of the SentosaCare nursing home
network.
He is active in New York’s business and Orthodox Jewish communities and supports several Chabad-linked charities.
