Sahara : Algeria seeks russian support before Security Concil’s reunion

On October 9, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin received Ambassador of Algeria in Moscow Boumediene Gennad at his request.

Accordinf to a starement of russian ministry of forien affairs, during the conversation, they discussed the prospects for cooperation between Russia and Algeria at the UN, as well as a number of issues on the agenda of its Security Council, including conflicts in the Middle East, North Africa and the Sahara-Sahel region.

Particular attention was paid to the problems of the Western Sahara settlement in the light of its upcoming consideration in the Security Council this month and discussion of the activities of the UN mission in western Sahara.

Algeria seems looking for the support of Russia to vote against the resolution that will be presented, october 30, in UN Security Concil by the United States which they are the pen holder
