Aziz Akhannouch represents Morocco in China-Africa Cooperation Summit

Moroccan Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch arrived in Beijing on Wednesday to represent His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, held from September 4 to 6.

Upon his arrival at Beijing International Airport, the Head of Government was welcomed by China’s Minister of the National Administration of Financial Regulation, Li Yunze.

During the Summit, Akhannouch will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, responsible for Investment, Convergence, and the Evaluation of Public Policies, Mohcine Jazouli.

Additionally, a delegation of business leaders, led by the President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Chakib Alj, will also participate in the 8th China-Africa Business Conference, scheduled on the sidelines of the Summit.

FOCAC, celebrating its 24th anniversary this year, represents a key partnership between China and the African continent, based on the core principles of solidarity, cooperation, and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.

Founded in October 2000 in Beijing, FOCAC is China’s oldest regional forum. The mechanism gained prominence in 2006 when Beijing announced the creation of a $5 billion China-Africa Development Fund.
